What's new at Gauhati University?
Gauhati University admission process is completely paperless; for all PG courses, it is subject to candidates' performance in the Offline Entrance Test, conducted by the university. Gauhati University is a public state university that started with 18 affiliated colleges and 8 Post Graduate Departments in 1948. Today, it offers all its UG, PG, diploma, certificate and doctoral courses via 39 PG departments and a constituent Law college. Additionally, it also has 341 colleges affiliated with it that offer UG and PG courses in the faculties of Arts, Science, Commerce, Law, and Engineering. It also has an Institute of Distance and Open Learning (IDOL) to offer distance learning programmes to the students.
Gauhati University offers more than 30 UG, PG, diploma, doctoral, and certificate programmes in various fields, such as Engineering, Arts, Science and Accounts. All these courses are offered via over 341 affiliated colleges along with 39 PG Departments. Besides these, it also houses an Institute of Distance and Open Learning (IDOL) and a constituent Law College.
Gauhati University offers master’s programmes in numerous streams across Arts, Science & Technology, Law, Commerce and Management via its departments, affiliated colleges and autonomous institutes. The admission process to PG courses ends up with over 1,800 students getting admitted across its postgraduate departments. Admission to all PG courses is based on the performance of the student in the Offline Entrance Test, which was conducted in the month of September 2021. In addition to the undergraduate and postgraduate courses, Gauhati University also offers a wide range of UG and PG Certificate courses along with a number of PG Diploma and Advanced Diploma programmes. The duration for all these courses range from three months to one year and admission to all of them is subject to merit in the last qualifying exam.
