Zuccarelli lifts Derby

Trainer Pesi Shroff’s 3/1 shot, Zuccarelli (Trevor Patel-up), scored an easy victory over a less fancied runner A Star Is Born (Suraj Narredu), in the 2,400m Kingfisher Ultra Indian Derby, the star attraction at the Mumbai on Sunday. 
   Ridden off the pace, in a fast run race, the runawy Bangalore Derby winner -- 11 days ago, cashed in on his current form to beat his 10 rivals, in Sunday’s Derby. The Western Aristocrat son was seen improving from the mid-field, no sooner field turned for home and was shown the daylight 250m from the wire. 
   A Star Is Born, too, was seen making his winning effort, almost from the wrong end of the field but failed by two lengths to place a graceful second. Chopin (Neeraj Rawal) was third while Miracle (P.S. Chauhan) the odds-on stablemate of the winner, was a poor fourth, indicating that the unbeaten filly in her Career’s eight starts was a tired horse.
