Bangalore: Trainer Pesi Shroff’s long-shot, Jamari (C. Umesh-up), scored a runaway victory to land the 2000m Betway Bangalore Summer Derby here on Sunday.
Ridden in controlled aggression behind the long-time leader, Champions Way, till about two furlongs from home, Jamari – a filly by Cougar Mountain out of Glyndebourne – took over the running and skated into a long lead to make look the soggy track conditions as her happy play ground.
Trainer S. Inayathulla’s friendless runner Auspicious Queen (Angad) was an eye-catching second while the RCTC challenger, Destroyer (I. Chisty) placed third.
