Chairman quits

Calcutta: The Royal Calcutta Turf Club (RCTC) chairman, Sudipto Sarkar, is learnt to have resigned on Thursday evening but there is no official confirmation. However, a senior club member confirmed on Friday afternoon that Sarkar’s resignation was from the chairmanship of the club, and not from the stewardship. The source also confirmed that four more stewards have also expressed their wishes not to seek re-elections in the AGM, scheduled for the end March.  However, these stewards will continue to perform their duties till the end of the month, under a new chairman who will be elected shortly.
