Abhya Gama may rule

Calcutta: Trainer Vijay Singh’s Abhya Gama is expected to rule in Saturday’s, the New Year’s Day’s, main event, the 2,200m betindiaraces.com RCTC Gold Vase. There are nine races in the afternoon’s card that also includes, the 1,200m Indian Produce Stakes, babies’ Derby, the 1,100m The Telegraph Cup and the 91.9 Friends FM Cup.
   Its long time that Abhya Gama has switched from his preferred staying trip to mid-distances and sprints. The six-year-old is known to change gears and also enjoys doing so.
   Preparations of three-year olds have definitely suffered because of pandemic reasons. Of the 11 youngster in the fray for the Produce Stakes, trainer Bharath Singh’s Sonata (Neeraj Rawal) may cash in on her superior workouts and blood lines – Win Legend out of Bold Reply.
   The Telegraph Cup may witness, Vijay’s sparingly raced Legendary Striker (C.S. Jodha) coming good. Jodha may also guide trainer S.K. Sunderji’s Deemed To Fire to victory in the 91.9 Friends FM Cup. The four-year-old horse had narrowly lost to Third Avenue who scored twice subsequently.
