An army officer was killed in a landslide in Sevoke on Thursday afternoon. The officer was
travelling by auto when the three-wheeler was suddenly struck by falling boulders near
Kalibari on National Highway 31.
The injured man was taken to North Bengal Medical College and Hospital, where he was
declared dead, as reported by a news website.
The auto driver was seriously injured too in the accident.
Incessant showers over the past few days may have triggered landslides in the area.
The Regional Meteorological Centre Kolkata has warned of further heavy rainfall in north
Bengal in the next 24 hours.
