The Heritage School recently showed what the fusion of art and innovation can look like. The students of The Heritage School, in association with West Bengal Publishers Coordination Committee, organised Gallery on Wheels -- an art gallery inside a tram where they exhibited art, pottery, photography and textile.
The exhibition-cum-sale was inaugurated by Rajanvir Singh Kapur, the managing director of West Bengal Transport Corporation (WBTC). For two days, the tram travelled along various routes and stopped by the Nonapukur, Esplanade, Shyambazar and Gariahat tram depots.
The idea behind the exhibition was to cherish the heritage of Bengal, especially Kolkata. The students of The Heritage School -- from Class I to XII -- along with the teachers presented photographs, pottery and textiles they had made.

“When I got to know about this tram where we can exhibit all our artwork, we decided to go forward with it. We usually have our annual fest on January 26, where we exhibit students’ artwork. Since we could not have the fest this year, we took this opportunity to showcase the talents of our students and teachers, ” said Seema Sapru, the principal of The Heritage School.
Gallery on Wheels has received appreciation both online and offline. “I am surprised by the innovations our schoolchildren have come up with,” said P. K. Agarwal, CEO, Heritage Group of Institutions, Kolkata.
