Klara is an Artificial Friend who is able to make singular observations about the human world she is able to view from an entirely different perspective. This solar-powered robot is able to see what most people miss and can even feel emotion. Love is a recurring theme in Ishiguro’s novels and this too explores the fundamental question: What does it mean to love? With the robot juxtaposed against humans, the reader is forced to wonder who is, in fact, more human?
