The Noapara-Dakshineswar Metro witnessed a landslip on Friday. The soil near the tracks
seems to have shifted after a few days of incessant showers in the city.

As a result, the frequency of Metro services suffered since Friday morning.

“The rain has caused some landslip in that area. It cannot be called a cave-in. We started
working on it the moment it came to our notice. It has not impacted Metro services,” Kolkata
Metro spokesperson Rupayan Mitra told a news website.

Eyewitnesses said the soil slip had caused damage to the pillars of the Belghoria Expressway
bridge. The affected pillars have been marked with ribbons.

Inaugurated on February 23, 2021, for commercial operations, the 4.139-km-long Noapara to
Dakshineswar Metro section provides the last mile connectivity on the south-north Metro
Railway corridor.
